Part Two
In part one of the Israelites, Who are they? We covered the life
of Abraham. From his birth to his death. We also learned that he had two sons
that he gave blessings too. Ishmael who's mother was Hagar, the Egyptain woman
who was the maidservant of Sarah.
Then Isaac the son of Sarah, and Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob, They
were twins, but because of Jacob holding onto his brothers heel, they were both
born at the same time. Although Esau came out first.
This part two will cover the life and death of Isaac. It is important
to know all there is to know,or else you won't know the truth about what you
should know.
Brothers and sisters part two of,
--------The Israelites Who Are They ???---
Genesis-26:4, "And I will multiply your descendants as
the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in
your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.
5,"Because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept
my charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My Laws."
6, so Isaac
dwelt in Gerar.
So far God has told Abraham and Isaac that He will cause
all the nations
of the earth, those that blessed Abraham and Isaaac and their descendants would
be blessed and that all nations will be cursed if they curse the nations of
Abarahm and Isaac. Now God is talking to Isaac and He said,
Genesis-26:24, And the Lord appeared to him the
same night and said,"I
Am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you, I will bless
you and multiply your descendants for my servant Abraham's sake."
25,
so he built an alter there and called on the name of the Lord, and he pitched
his tent there;and there Isaac's servants dug a well.
26,
Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath, one of his friends, and
Picchol the commander of his army.
27, and Isaac said to them,"Why have you come
to me, since you hate me and sent me away from you?"
28, But they
said,"We have certainly seen that the Lord is with
you. So we said,"Let there now be an oath between you and us; and let
us make a covenant with you.
29, That you will do us no harm, since we have not touched you, and
since we have done nothing to you but good and have sent you away in peace.
"You are now blessed of the Lord."
30,So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank.
31, Then they arose early in the morning and swore an oath with one
another; and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.
Here we see that God has already began to bless Issac because even
Abimelech, who was the king of the Philistines in Gerar was on the side of
Isaac. So much so that he told everyone in his kingdom, that who ever touch
Isaac or his wife would be put to death. Gen;26:11.
Now in chapter 27, Isaac tells Esau, his first born to go and kill
some fresh game then make him the stew that he loved to eat. But his wife heard
what he had told Esau so she told Jacob to go and kill a young goat from the
heard, and she would make the stew for Isaac.
This was done so Jacob could receive his brothers blessing which Isaac
was going to give to Esau, after he had eaten the stew. Rebekah and jacob deceived
Isaac and Isaac gave Jacob the blessing that Esau was to get. But Esau had
sold Jacob his birth right some years earlier, for a bowl of the same kind
of stew.
Genesis-25:28, and Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but
Rebekah loved Jacob.
29,Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field and he was
weary.
30,and Esau said to Jacob,"please feed me
with that same red stew, for I am weary" Therefore his name was called
Edom {red}
31, But Jacob said"Sell
me your birthright as of this day.
32,and Esau said, "Look I am about to die;so
what profit shall this birthright be to me."
33,Then Jacob said,"swear
to me as of this day." so he swore
to him, and gave his birthright to Jacob.
34, and Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils;
then he ate and drank, arose and went his way.
Thus Esau dispised his birthright.
Now that Jacob had Esau's birthright it was only right that he should
take the blessings of the firstborn. And Isaac thinking he was blessing Esau,
blessed Jaboc instead. And here is the blessing that Isaac gave to Jacob, and
this same blessing would be handed down to the grandson of Jacob who was the
son of Joseph.
Genesis-27:27, And he came near and kissed him;and
he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him and said.
Surely the smell of my son is like the smell of a field.
Which the Lord has blessed.
28,Therefore may God give you of the dew of heaven,
of the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and wine.
29, Let peoples serve you, and Nations bow down
to you.
Be master of your brethren, and let your mothers sons bow down to you.
Rebekah was Esau's mother which would make his sons, the grandsons
of Rebekah. I'll show you who they were in part three. Now when Esau saw, what
Jacob had done he became bitter towards Jacob. So much so that he hated Jacob
and made plans to kill him as soon as his father Isaac died. But Isaac also
gave Esau a blessing after he had ask his father if he still had a blessing
for him. This same blessing would be given to the other son of Joseph some
years later. This is the blessing Isaac gave Esau.
Genesis-27:37, Then Isaac answered and said to Esau,"Indeed
I have made him your master, and all his brethren I have given to him as servants;with
grain and wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now for my son?"
38, and
Esau said to his father,"Have you only one blessing,my father?
Bless me, even me also,O my father." and Esau lifted up his voice and
wept.
39,Then Isaac his father answered and said to him;
Behold, your dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth. And of the dew of
heaven above.
40, By your sword you shall live, and you shall
serve your brother. And it shall come to pass, when you become restless, that
you shall break his yoke from your neck.
And because Jacob had taken Esau's
birthright and blessing, Esau saught to kill Jacob. But Rebekah told him what
Esau was going to do, so she told Jacob to travel to Haran, after he left Gerar.
Heran
is where Rebekah's brother Laban lived. She did this in order that Jacob would
not marry into the clan of Heth.
Heth was the son of Canaan, Canaan was the son of Ham, who was the second
born to Noah. I'll show you why in part three.
Rebekah told Isaac she wouldn't be to happy if Jacob married into the
Canaanite tribe, so Isaac told Jacob to go to his uncle's house and take for
himself a wife from there.
Genesis-28:1, Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him,
