The Shedding of Blood
Genesis: 3-20, And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
21, Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
After Adam and Eve, ate the fruit from the forbidden tree, they saw for the first time, that they were naked. In other words, their sins were now visible to the naked eye. And they took fig leaves and tried to cover up their nakedness, But God knew the fig leaves would not last so He made Adam and Eve, the first ever, leather jacket or tunic.
Leather comes from the skins of animals, and to get that skin, you must first kill the animal. You must shed the blood, to get the skin cover. The skin that God took from the animal was to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness. And to get this skin, God had to shed its blood. What's the message here? This animal had nothing at all to do with what Adam and Eve did.
Yet he died so that their nakedness could no longer be seen.
Genesis: 37-31, So they took Joseph's tunic, killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the tunic in the blood.
Now we should all know the story of how Joseph was sold to the Medianites and into slavery by his older brothers. And to cover their sin, of jealousy, they killed the innocent kid goat who had nothing at all to do with what Joseph's brothers did, except to hide the fact that Joseph was headed for Egypt.
The blood of that goat covered the sins of Joseph's brothers. They used the blood of that young goat to hide their sins from their father.
Exodus: 12-5, Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or the goats.
6, Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
7, and they shall take some of the blood, and put it on the door post and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.
12,For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the first born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I AM the Lord.
13, Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will Passover you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the Land of Egypt.
Here again we see the innocent blood of little animals, dying and shedding their blood, just so God couldn't see the sins of His people. Anyone who was not covered with the blood, DIED.
Do you see what is taking place here? The blood of the innocent is to cover up the sin of the guilty.
2 Samuel: 11-14,Then in the morning it was so that David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah.
15, And he wrote in the letter, saying, “Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die.
16, So it happened, while Joab besieged the city, that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew there were valiant men.
17, Then the men of the city came out and fight with Joab. And some of the people of the servants of David fell; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
We all should know the story behind this murder. It was so David and Bathsheba, could cover up their sin of adultery. David took the wife of Uriah, and spent the night with her and she became pregnant. Then David knowing what he did was wrong, killed an innocent man, and spilt his blood, so his sin could be covered up. Did you notice that Uriah carried his own death warrent to his executioner? And because of this God cursed David, and the sword never left David’s house.
2 Samuel; 18,9, Then Absalom met the servants of David. Absalom rode on a mule. The mule went under the thick boughs of a great terebinth tree, and his head caught in the terebinth; so he was left hanging between heaven and earth. And the mule which was under him went on.
14, Then Joab said, "I cannot linger with you; and he took three spears in his hand and thrust them through Absalom's heart, while he was still alive in the midst of the terebinth tree.
17, And they took Absalom and cast him into a large pit in the woods, and laid a very large heap of stones over him. Then all Israel fled, everyone to his tent.
The Bible says cursed is the man that hangs from a tree. Do you think that was why it was the custom, years ago, to hang a man who had done wrong?
What about Jesus? Do you think He did wrong? Why did He die?
The Bible says that Jesus was an innocent man, and He shed His blood for your sins.
What do Jesus and Absalom have in common? They both rode to their deaths on a mule or Donkey.
They both were hung from a tree. Absalom had three spears run through him, and Jesus had three nails run through Him. They both died in a tree, and they both were buried under a stone. Absalom and Jesus were stabbed through the heart. Absalom was innocent of his father’s deeds, but because of them, his blood was shed.
Exodus;20-5,you shall not bow down to them, nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a Jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me.
After David, had killed an innocent man, and his blood was shed to cover up what he had done, Israel and the tribe of Judah, rebelled for years, until they were taken into Babylon for 70 years.
Can we find this shedding of innocent blood today? Most people would say no, but may I remind you that, when two people have sex, and she becomes pregnant, and you abort that baby, you have just shed its blood, to hide your deeds. You would rather kill the innocent, that tell your father what you have done. The blood of that child will haunt you and your kids [that you don't kill] for three and four generation.
When a man robs a store, and kills the store keeper, he has just shed the blood of another man, just to cover his sin. The store keeper, had nothing to do with what the robber has done, yet he has paid the highest price.
Now when you think about the blood of Jesus, remember, He had nothing to with
what you have done. But He died for you anyway. His innocent blood was shed,
so that when the death angel comes calling, and you have His blood over your
heart, You can't be seen, by him. And when you stand before God on judgment
day, all He'll be able to see is innocent blood, and the judgment of the lake
of fire, will Passover you.
Because God had His own Son killed, you can have a tunic, to wear into heaven. But without the tunic, you will stand NAKED before God. No blood to hide your sins and God will not and cannot look at you. You will be cast into the pit of darkness, forever. Take the cover, that God has made for you, and do it now.
