Arrollo El Diablo's

John was sitting at home on a cold and rainy day, and as he watched the rain coming down he began to think about how his wife Loved a cold and rainy day.

She would have cuddled up next to him and the kids and say " All is well." While dreaming of how it used to be, he decided to go to see his wife or should I say his ex-wife.

As he climbed into the old truck he thought about what he should say so that they might get together again. He had already tried everything he knew of but the ex-wife would not even listen to him.

As he turned onto the old road that ran from the highway up to his house he could see some smoke 2 and a half miles down the road. The road was 4 miles from the highway to his front doorsteps. The name of the road was Straight and Narrow.

That was his wifes idea, it was straight and narrow but it did have a place where you could meet an oncoming car. There was a bridge just before that passing spot and it crossed over what the ranch hands called Arrollo El Diablo's. The bridge was made of wood and has been there for 50 years.

As John got closer to the bridge over Arrollo El Diablo's he could tell that it was on fire, but it had been burning for a while and there wasn't much of it left.

The bridge over Arrollo El Diablo's was only 66 feet long and 18 feet wide but it was 13 feet to the Arrollo El Diablo's. As John stood there looking at the bridge, he could tell that all the rain had caused the Arrollo El Dialblo's to swell up and it ran very fast and it was icey cold this time of year.

So John knew He could not get across Arrollo El Diablo's, so he just sat and looked at his old house for awhile. He could tell by the rain that it would be at least a week before the Arrollo El Diablo's was low enough to cross by foot. The banks were very steep and muddy.
Just as the sun was going down he said to himself, john you'd better head back home. So he got back in his old truck and turned around, which took awhile, but he managed to do so.

After he got straightened out he stopped, he got out and thought to himself, that old bridge is the only way over Arrollo El Diablo's and thats the place he and his witch-in-law had the big fight that caused his divorce.

So he said maybe it's for a good reason it burned all the down to the Arrollo El Diablo's. So John sat down in the seat of his truck and drove off.

And just as he reached the highway. He said, speak of the devil, it was the ole bag herself. As John saw her car sitting there with its left turn signal on, he began to remember.

It had been eight years since his father-in-law had passed away and it was just about a month after he died, his wife, John's mother-in-law began to tear at his marriage.

The old battle ax tried for years to split them up but his father-in-law would stop her.

Now that he was gone she did what she pleased. And it was her pleasure to bust them up. The mother-in-law's name was Lucy.
Lucy even went so far as to fix Johns wife up with another man and paid the wife's lawyers fees for her. Lucy had lots of money and she did not mind at all paying for her daughters lawyer, who was the best lawyer in 5 counties.

She also had this lawyer take the ranch from John and give it to his wife. The ranch had been in his family for 100 years. Plus, John could not come near his kids, because she had lied about what John had done to them.

He was glad his father wasn't alive to see that.

All this came to mind as he watched Lucy turn onto the dirt road. And he knew that she always drove way too fast down the straight and narrow.

And knowing that the fog was setting in and it was getting dark already that she might not see that the bridge was out at Arrollo El Diablo's. This could be my chance to rid the world of this woman, John thought.

All I have to do is let her go and she'll just fly right into Arrollo El Diablo's and no more Lucy, the mother-in-law from hell. It was at that moment he remembered what the bible said ' love those that hate you, do to others the way you would want to be treated. Love those that despise you, love your enemy. Because if you act like them then you are no better than they are.

So John turned his truck into the path of Lucys car and she had to skid sideways to keep from running into his truck. Lucy got out and started screaming at John to get out of her way.

She became totally irate at John and said that she would have him put in prison for this. She said you are no better than your daddy was. He was a loser and you are too.

I hated him and I hate you too. John said why do you hate us so much? What did my father ever do to you? Lucy said I was going to marry your father but he dumped me when your mother moved to town.

Thats when John relized why she hated him so much and why she didn't want him to marry her daughter. John told her Lucy the bridge burned up at the Arrollo El Diablo's.

It burned up from this side all the way to the other. The Arrollo El Diablo's is running wild and if I let you drive down this road the way you normally do you'll die tonight.

Lucy said I have Becky and the kids in the car I told them to stay in the car. As Becky and the kids got out of the car Lucy told them about the bridge and how they would have died if John had turned a blind eye on them.

John not knowing his kids were in the car fell to his knees and said thank you Jesus for reminding me of how I should act. Lucy said John can you forgive me for what I have done?

The hate I had for you for getting left by your father has made me a hateful woman. John said you are forgiven but I want my family back. Becky said we're back John lets go home.

John Jr. asked his daddy what he would have done if he had let his grandma Lucy go and then saw us in the car? John told him I would have tried to stop you.

Then Lucy said John the hate I had for you was all the way to my soul. If you had not pulled in front of me and told the truth to us about the bridge being out I would have out ran your daddy and the bridge being out we would have all died in Arrollo El Diablo's. {The Devils Creek.}
